Two weekends ago a big group of us went to Zion's National Park in southern Utah. We camped at Ponderosa Ranch, which was well equipped with a dining hall, pool, hot tub, bathrooms/showers, rec center... some camping, huh? Devin, Kylen, and I drove down later than everyone and got to the camp ground after 1 am. We couldn't find our friends anywhere in the dark, so we set up camp near some family's tents. Luckily, after driving around yelling for Matt in the morning, we ran into them by the recreation barn.
We all started our day with one of the funnest most beautiful hikes I've ever been on. Angel's landing is a rock formation measuring 1300 ft from the ground. After climbing up rock cut paths, and clinging to chain links atop the formation with a 1000 foot drop on either side of you, we got to see an amazing view from above Zion canyon.
We ate lunch and sunbathed on top of the landing for quite a while. It was a strenuous hike that felt accomplishing, but not exhausting. The weather was perfect for us - sunny but breezy.
One of the best parts about our hiking, camping weekend was being able to meet all of our new friends and sharing the weekend's experiences with new faces.
A straight view down a flat rock wall
climbing the chain link to the tippy top
peering over the edge
climbing "Walters Wiggles"
