Wild Imagination of Monsters in the Basement

This is a story told by anna (age 5), explaining to me why she won't go in the basement by herself:

“I have seen monsters. They’re black and blue and orange. The spine was black, the skin is blue, and the toes are orange, and their mean to me. And it had a baby cat monster with spikes all over its head – 1, 2, 3, 4… all over its back.

All over it’s back and it was black and blue. That’s it. And then he had a big dog and he had terrible teeth about this long, down to his toes, and he has spikes all over him. And he had no tail.

He had a spike for a tail. One is poop, one is didi, one is gigi, and one is cici. And they can eat us.

They can eat us - The monsters, and they have red eyes. Red eyes. And they have for its head, light bulbs, so they can see in the dark a lot. And they like to eat eye balls and skeletons.

Then they throw them out. - the skeletons. They throw them out, then they put the skeletons in a hole and then they eat them up - In a bucket. Then they put a towel on top and they bury it back up. And then they had another monster who eats skeletons. So they dig them up and eat them. And that is a whole skeleton who eats them up. The bones. And they have a bone cat and a bone dog. D O G spells dog. Ok, and then all of the skeletons eat hair off you. Then they eat your teeth. They eat your teeth too.

Is this a real story or a made up one? Well maybe we can make a move some time

Then they eat eye balls. And they eat nails of your toes. And then they eat you… they eat shirts! And then they like to eat cats, dogs, horses… they like to eat pigs. They like to eat chickens. Sheeps! They like to eat babies! They like to eat the sun! They like to eat your ears! They like to eat your toys! They like to eat your computer! They like to eat your hair bands. They like to eat lady gaga! They like to eat paper! They like to eat cords! They like to eat pens! They like to eat pens and markers. And they like to eat your lips. That’s gonna hurt. They have blood going down when they pull your lips up and you stand in your skeleton all the way to your toes and your toes will bleed.

They like to eat buildings! They like to eat grass! I eat grass before, only the white part. I chewed on the white part. They like to eat boxes! They like to eat poop and pee. They like to eat toilets! They like to eat stores! They like to eat roses! Then they get horns all over. They spit it out and throw it all up. They like to eat scary stuff! They like to eat caterpillars – even with spots. The monster caterpillars like to eat… to eat dots on you. Like they like to eat your skin up. They like to eat leashes. They like to eat collars. Like you put the leash on the collar. And they like to eat your iphone! My mama has one.

They like to eat grandmas! This is like a movie

They like to eat bottle cans. They like to eat fireworks.

Then he likes to eat your brain! Then he likes to eat your feet… even your bones… Then you have scar. Then they like to eat your tissue and your body. Then they like to eat your pad – the pad is under your tissue. And then they like to eat pigs, cows, buffalo’s horns, deers, eagles, uuuum bunnies! Cows! I said cows… they like to eat lady bugs! They like to eat the clouds! They like to eat… like to eat cow brains, dog brains, rooster brains. They like to eat scarecrows. They like to eat remotes. And that’s it.

Mhmm”

I say: “Well no wonder you’re scared of monsters.”

“Ya, I think they’re going to eat your brains up. The end. That’s it.”
